L&M DESIGN LAB approaches the design of Shantou Preschool Education College as an opportunity to redefine vocational education in the context of higher learning development. Situated amidst seaside mountains, the college caters predominantly to female students destined to become preschool teachers. Recognizing the pivotal role of the institution in the local community, the architects embrace the ethos of “FOREST, FREEDOM, and FEMININE,” weaving together principles of sustainability, spatial liberation, and women’s empowerment into the fabric of their design.
Harmonizing with Nature
The campus emerges as a beacon of tranquility amidst the warm, sun-drenched landscape. Set against the backdrop of rolling hills and azure waters, the campus architecture exudes a sense of understated elegance. Embracing the natural contours of the terrain, the design prioritizes fluidity and simplicity, fostering a connection between students and their surroundings. Plaster-clad facades, resilient against the elements, stand as testaments to the school’s resilience and endurance.
