Rubles for Ukraine: Artists Unite for Humanitarian Aid

In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent crash of the ruble, a collaborative effort involving over 40 artists has emerged to raise humanitarian aid for Ukraine. Spearheaded by a coalition of creatives and technologists from Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Amplify, and Kairos, the initiative, dubbed “Rubles for Ukraine,” seeks to repurpose Russian currency as a canvas for renowned artists to create and sell artwork.

Repurposing Currency for a Cause

With over 100,000 Russian rubles earmarked for transformation, the Rubles for Ukraine project aims to harness the power of art to support relief efforts in Ukraine. Each ruble will be transformed into a unique work of art by participating artists, with the entire collection slated to be released as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Solana network. Importantly, 100% of the proceeds generated from the sale of these NFTs will be directed towards charitable causes aiding Ukraine.

Bridging the Physical and Digital Realms

In addition to the digital NFT collection, the Rubles for Ukraine team plans to host a one-time-only exhibition featuring all the physical artworks created as part of the project. Moreover, purchasers of the NFTs will have the exclusive opportunity to claim ownership of the corresponding physical artwork, ensuring a seamless integration of the digital and physical art worlds.

Mobilizing a Global Community of Artists

Led by creative visionary Clemens Zlami, Rubles for Ukraine has garnered widespread support from artists around the world. The roster of participating artists continues to expand, with new names joining the initiative daily. Among the artists lending their talents to the cause are Adam Hathorn, Andy Howell, Curtis Kulig, Hannah Stouffer, Joshua Vides, Marylou Faure, Russ Pope, and many more.

A Collaborative Effort for Change

As artworks are completed, they will be unveiled and showcased on social media platforms, with sales scheduled to commence in July. Through the collective efforts of the artistic community, Rubles for Ukraine aims to make a meaningful impact in supporting the people of Ukraine during this challenging time.

A Unified Stand Against Injustice

By transforming Russian rubles into symbols of solidarity and support, Rubles for Ukraine exemplifies the power of art to effect positive change in the face of adversity. Through their creative expressions, the participating artists reaffirm their commitment to humanitarian principles and stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in their time of need.
