Elon Musk, in an event at Tesla’s headquarters in Austin, Texas, handed over the Cybertruck to approximately a dozen customers, foreseeing a new era of excitement, as reported by The Verge. The event also featured updated information regarding the truck’s pricing, range, and features.
Pricing and Availability Details
The rear-wheel drive version of the Cybertruck is priced at $60,990, reflecting an increase from its 2019 price of $39,900. This model boasts a range of 250 miles on a single charge, although it won’t be available until 2025. On the other hand, the dual-motor and tri-motor variants, dubbed “Cyberbeast,” are set to launch sooner, specifically in 2024, and promise higher performance.
Variant Specifications
The all-wheel drive (AWD) Cybertruck is priced at $79,990 and offers a range of 340 miles, accelerating from 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds, with a top speed of 112 mph. The tri-motor version, priced at $99,990, delivers a staggering 845 horsepower, 10,296 lb-ft of torque, and a range of approximately 320 miles, as mentioned in the report.
Pricing Shifts
These prices announced at the event significantly deviate from the earlier projected $50,000 range that Elon Musk had indicated for the Cybertruck.
Redesigned Window Strength Demonstration
During the event, Elon Musk invited Tesla’s chief designer, Franz Von Holzhausen, to redo the infamous window strength demonstration from 2019. In that demonstration, an attempt to smash the supposed armor-plated glass with a ball bearing had failed. This time, Von Holzhausen threw a baseball, and the glass successfully withstood the impact, showcasing improvements in the vehicle’s design and engineering.
