The Urban Cabin, nestled in the heart of Albino in Valle Seriana, is a testament to compact yet functional living. Designed for a local couple of Italian and Persian heritage, this micro-apartment spans just 25 sqm. It breathes new life into an old open porch, transforming it into a cozy haven adjacent to a private garden.
Playful Design Aesthetic
Francesca Perani Enterprise brings a playful touch to architecture, infusing the Urban Cabin with a sense of whimsy and charm. By embracing bold colors, diagonal lines, and character-rich materials, the design de-dramatizes traditional architecture. The intent is to create a space that harmonizes with nature while providing privacy in a densely populated urban setting.
Multifunctional Living
At ground level, the Urban Cabin offers a minimal yet multifunctional living space. Every corner is thoughtfully designed to maximize functionality without sacrificing style. A roof garden extends the living area outdoors, blurring the boundaries between inside and outside. The restoration maintains the original external shape while introducing playful shading elements and ample openings.
Inspired by Persian Architecture
A perforated metal grid adorns the south facade, reminiscent of ancient Persian arches. This not only adds visual interest but also provides privacy for the inhabitants. Inside, the interior design draws inspiration from Persian culture, with warm OSB textures contrasting with dramatic blue resin in the bathroom. Recycled 1960s handles and printed marble gres add a touch of nostalgia to the modern space.
Flexible and Efficient Design
Despite its limited dimensions, the Urban Cabin boasts a custom-designed interior that prioritizes flexibility and efficiency. Diagonal lines define the kitchen and window frames, creating a dynamic flow throughout the space. Low-cost materials and attention to thermal insulation ensure comfort without compromising on style.
