Redefining Space: The siki Salon Experience

Redefining Space: The siki Salon Experience

Introduction

siki Salon, a project by FATHOM, reimagines the concept of a salon as a dynamic space that evolves with the changing seasons. Central to this vision is a rotating mirror positioned at the heart of the shop, symbolizing the ever-changing nature of life.

Transformative Mirror

The mirror, strategically placed on a single axis of stainless steel round pipes, serves as the focal point of the space. By rotating the mirror, the ambiance of the salon undergoes subtle transformations every day, offering patrons a unique experience with each visit.

Structural Innovation

To accentuate the presence of the rotating mirror, FATHOM exposes the concrete skeleton of the building frame, lending the space a minimalist yet striking aesthetic. The layout of the salon follows a clockwise direction around the building’s perimeter, leading patrons from the entrance to various functional zones seamlessly.

Fluid Spatial Design

Incorporating elements of fluidity and continuity, siki Salon blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The removal of existing entrance sashes creates a semi-outdoor area, while the reception counter extends horizontally, maximizing the use of space within the narrow confines.

Celestial Inspiration

Drawing inspiration from celestial bodies, the salon’s design evokes a sense of infinite expanse within a confined space. As the central mirror rotates, functions and infrastructure within the salon shift in relation to one another, mirroring the cosmic dance of rotation and revolution.

Embracing Change

siki Salon encourages patrons to embrace the beauty of everyday transformations, mirroring the subtle shifts of the natural world. By infusing the space with elements of change and dynamism, FATHOM creates an environment where individuals can find joy in the richness of daily life.

In siki Salon, every visit promises a new experience, where the familiar becomes extraordinary through the simple act of rotation.
