BenQ Unveils W5800 Home Cinema Projector in India

BenQ has launched its newest home cinema projector, the W5800, in India, targeting customers seeking a premium theatre experience within their homes.

The BenQ W5800 is positioned as the flagship offering from BenQ, boasting 4K UHD resolution and catering to users who desire large-scale entertainment experiences at home, with projections of up to 200 inches.

Launch Statement

Rajeev Singh, Managing Director of BenQ India and South Asia, expressed excitement about the W5800’s launch, highlighting it as a significant milestone in home cinema technology. He emphasized BenQ’s commitment to pushing visual excellence boundaries, with the W5800 embodying their continuous effort to deliver unparalleled viewing experiences.

Pricing and Availability

Priced at INR 6.5 lakh, the BenQ W5800 is positioned as a premium offering. It is set to hit selected retail stores across India starting from April 2023.

Specifications and Features

The W5800 boasts 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) and supports HDR10+ high dynamic range content, incorporating BenQ’s HDR Pro technology for optimal color temperature tuning. It features a laser light array delivering 2600 ANSI Lumens brightness, with claimed superior brightness and contrast compared to traditional lamps. The projector offers 1700 ANSI Lumens brightness in 100% DCI-P3 color accuracy in cinema mode.

For easy installation, the projector includes 2D lens shift for image adjustments, motorized horizontal and vertical lens shift, and 1.6x motorized zoom support. BenQ estimates the laser light source’s longevity at up to 18,000 hours and provides a three-year warranty on the projector and the laser light source.

In terms of connectivity, the W5800 includes two 4K HDMI ports, two USB ports, LAN port, and an audio port for external sound system integration.

BenQ’s Growth in India

BenQ has experienced robust growth in India’s projector segment, reporting a 40% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the past three years. The company is optimistic about future prospects, citing increased projector usage for both official and entertainment purposes in India.

Singh emphasized India’s significance as BenQ’s third-largest market globally, contributing around 10% of the company’s total revenue. With a current market share of approximately 40%, BenQ aims to increase its share to nearly 50% with recent launches like the W5800, solidifying its position in India’s projector market.
